How To Dress For Autumn

Autumn is all about the soft knits, rusty tones, subtle cream vibes and comfy jumpers. Finally, we can get layering and dig out our long coats, scarfs and gloves. I love dressing in cosy items and enjoy wearing my jumpers and cardigans again. Life is so good snuggled up with a hot chocolate and a super soft throw to keep you warm!

I am loving cream and neutral colours at the moment. When shopping for Autumn wear, it is important to buy items that you can enjoy in other years to come too and that is why when I purchase items I generally go for versatile pieces that are timeless when the trends change. That said, I do love the ruffles and fabulous design details this year!

Layers are important during Autumn. The weather can be chilly but it can also be unpredictable and so you can either layer up or down depending on the situation. A polo neck jumper is always a winner and because I have a long neck, they suit me well. I find them so cosy. This one I picked up last year has beautiful design details on the sleeves and just looks stunning on. It isn’t too thick and so with a strappy top underneath is not too warm to wear.

I love slim fitting leggings. I find they suit my body shape better as baggy ones just make me look a bit ill proportioned. It is important to find what suits your body shape as everyone is different. Because I am tall, these wet look leggings look lovely. They also go with so many outfits and so are a great Autumn staple.

Just because the weather has changed doesn’t mean you can’t accessorize! I love wearing sunglasses during Autumn on bright but chilly days. They are also an essential whilst driving to stop the sunny glare. I love accessorizing with rings and a bracelet too. Because the neck detail was so pretty on the jumper, I didn’t want to spoil it with a necklace but delicate chains can work so well all times of year.

Find a coat that works for you. I love this camel coat that I picked up a few years ago from Miss Selfridge. I love the neutral colour of it and it just works so well with most outfits. It is the perfect sophisticated outer layer that pulls a look together. There are so many great coats this time of year, including ones from Reiss, Miss Selfridge and Topshop.

Make the right step in comfy but practical shoes during Autumn. I love taking walks and I like my feet to look stylish but without my shoes crippling me. The cut out details of these brogues from Clarks are gorgeous. I just love brogues this time of year and Clarks have some elegant ones right now.

Bag it up stylishly with this Next Cream and gold bag. I wrote a recent blog on this piece and it complements so many outfit looks. The bag is big enough to store your daily essentials without being too bulky for out and about. The design details of this bag are so lovely and premium looking, you wouldn’t have guessed it was from the high street!
