Blogger Recognition Award

It put such a smile on my face when the lovely Milenka from millieonhearts nominated me for this Blogger Recognition Award. I love reading her posts and she has become part of a bunch of very supportive bloggers. Thank you Millie! I’ve been trying to build up my audience on my blog recently as I love blogging and feel this is what drives me as well as violin teaching. So, I was so excited to see that people are enjoying my blog posts. I think it is a lovely idea to nominate bloggers you love to read and I hope you can discover some new reads from my suggestions. I think blogging is becoming so recognisable now and I hope to reach more people and turn my blog into a professional blog in the near future!

The Rules

  1. Thank the blogger that nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your award.
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Select 15 bloggers you want to give this award to.
  6. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them, providing a link to the post you created.

How My Blog Started

It was mid 2015 that my blog started… I completed an internship doing E-Commerce Marketing at Biscuiteers – an adorable hand-iced biscuit company. I got to work on the blog a little and I loved it. I had never really known much about the blogging world before. I guess I was slow to the party! But as soon as I discovered it I knew I had to be part of it! At first, I created my blog just for fun and to practise learning new skills for future marketing interviews. It was a collection of recipes and food reviews to start with as I have always loved to cook. I soon realised after another internship and the gruelling interview process of a job seeker that blogging was what made me happy and I wanted to try and continue with that. I branched out into other interests such as fashion, lifestyle and beauty, alongside the food blog posts. Now, I am happy teaching violin alongside building my website up. I finally feel content and have confidence in my career decisions. Keep your eyes peeled for a big change in my blog layout soon as I am planning to jazz it up to look more professional!

Advice to New Bloggers

My first piece of advice would be to write about what you enjoy and not to write what isn’t you. I only ever write about things I have an interest in and things I can relate to. I know I am never going to be writing about beauty 100% or food 100%. I’m just not like that. I’ve learnt that for me a mix of blog content is what I love to write about and it keeps that pick ‘n’ mix element which people that know me will say is very me.

Scheduling tools like Buffer and Tweetdeck can be so great to advertise your content. I schedule posts daily and so I know that content can be reached by people regularly. When I am out and about it is hard to tweet regularly and so this really helps.

Make a blogging schedule so people know when to expect blogs from you. I blog on Wednesdays and Sundays. I would love to do more but this is all I can manage at the moment alongside my teaching. I would like to push myself to do more posts but I have to realise that at the end of the day although I enjoy the writing side more, the promotion side needs to be factored into the day too. Do how much you can manage but try to push yourself.

Try to take part in twitter chats. This is where I am bad as I never seem to have free time in the evening after cooking, cleaning, chores and spending time with friends and family. I really do love meeting other bloggers on Twitter though and if you are able to take part in any chats then they really are great!
