How To Spend A Weekend In Brighton…

Brighton is becoming one of my favourite seaside getaways. Being around an hour travel from London by train, it makes it the perfect place to escape for a weekend. I recently went to Brighton for a birthday surprise planned by my boyfriend and it was so lovely and relaxing. We had been to Brighton before and so knew a few places to visit…. which mostly involved eating, relaxing and strolling along the beautiful pebbled beach. So, I thought I would write about my top picks from spending a weekend in Brighton. These I think you will like…

Where to stay…

After a short train trip arriving at Brighton station (which btw had the cutest flower stall selling pretty tin can posies)… we arrived at our Airbnb . We had stayed in a Brighton airbnb before and we just feel like you get a bit more for your money and it is generally more homely. Obviously, this stay was a little more luxurious…. champagne on arrival and goodies such as avocado and fresh from the local bakery focaccia awaiting us in the fridge. The host for this accommodation was just perfect!

Where to stroll…

After arriving in paradise and dropping off our luggage we made a beeline from the beach. Not only is the beach lovely in itself, there are cute gift shops at The West Pier Arches near to the new i360. I particularly liked lavender /room as it contained all sorts of little gems to made your home look that little bit more special. I love all these cute local shops that you don’t get everywhere else.

Where to eat…

On our first day, we went to 42 Juice (which I had heard such great things about from the blogging world)… this place knows how to make a great juice! We got a “I am Skinny Green” (pineapple, cucumber, spinach, apple and lime) and a “I am Healing Roots” (carrot and turmeric). Both were delicious and it has restored my faith in green juices! Perfect to enjoy whilst walking along the beach! 42 juice is situated in the famous “lanes” which I also thoroughly recommend checking out.

I was treated to the most gorgeous birthday meal at Terre à Terre, an insanely delicious vegetarian restaurant. I am not a vegetarian but I much prefer vegetarian food and I thought it was so sweet of my boyfriend to book this for us! The food was outstanding and made vegetarianism look indulgent and luxurious – just the way it should be celebrated! We shared all the food we ordered (like we usually do hehe) and chose some stunning options.

Our menu…

KFC – Korean fried cauliflower with lots of delicious accompaniments such as khol rabi and pickled mirin ginger jelly.

Sneaky Peeking Steamers – Steamed rice buns filled with Szechuan marinated halloumi and Asian greens.

Chimchimney – Soufflé and Sooty Tops Brighton Blue double baked soufflé served with items like baked Jerusalem artichokes and salt toffee apple tattie pave pie.

Churrosimo – Cinnamon sugar dusted churros served with vodka cherries, delicious sauces – caramel and dark chocolate – and a freeze-dried raspberry garnish.

We had lunch at i gigi cafe on our last day. It is a cute little cafe hidden in the upstairs of the i gigi shop below. The food is just stunning and perfect for that sophisticated but homely vibe boasting fresh delicious produce. We both had apple juice – one sharp and one sweet – yes, they do different varieties of apple juice! I had grilled tomatoes and a poached egg on toast. My boyfriend had a Welsh rarebit cheese scone with a ham and pear salad. Seriously yummy.

Julien Plumart do the most delicious macaroons. When is it not appropriate to share a sneaky macaroon? We had a banana and chocolate macaroon and it was seriously flavoursome. This Brighton find is such a lovely place to buy a memorable present for someone special or to satisfy that sweet tooth.

If you are looking for a treat of ice cream then I can thoroughly recommend Boho Gelato. With the likes of Zoella loving this place then why not? We didn’t have any ice cream this time we went but the Carrot Cake flavour was my favourite last time we were in Brighton.
