Is The Turmeric Latte The New Craze?

Turmeric

We all know turmeric is good for us. Research has shown it has so many health benefits including relief from heartburn, diarrhoea, stomach bloating, colds, fibromyalgia and depression. Early research has also been made to suggest that it helps with destroying cancerous cells, fighting against liver damage, lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes, and decreasing the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Read the Boots article here where I featured these facts from.

With so many benefits of turmeric, it is hard not to want to appreciate the ingredient for its amazingness. Turmeric is so easy to use in cooking – you can get fresh or dried and use it in curries, stir-fries, toppings for potatoes or vegetables, and even put it in drinks.

The Turmeric Latte

The turmeric latte has become trendy in lots of modern cafes the last few years and there is no wonder why. Generally, the ingredients of this drink include turmeric, ginger, a sweetener such as honey, and water or a plant-based milk. There are so many variations and spices such as cinnamon also feature in some recipes, as can the use of a nut butter for instance. My mission is to find the perfect recipe combination and post it on my blog soon. Let me know if you would like to see that on here?

So, what does it taste like? Well, this golden drink is a lot milder than people think. It doesn’t taste like a curry (as I feared). Instead, the one I tried had a warming kick from the ginger and was so yummy. My boyfriend described it as “sweet with a hint of spice”. Great for a cold winter’s day. This drink is also caffeine free so a great healthy alternative to that cup of tea!

So, next time you are out, and you see a turmeric latte give it a try! I was so scared of trying one, but I was pleasantly surprised and now I want to go back for more.

Have you tried a turmeric latte before?
