Blogmas Day 14… Sustainable Festive Wrapping

Welcome to Blogmas Day 14! I can’t believe how fast this December is going and how many Blogmas posts we have had so far! I really hope you are enjoying them as much as I am enjoying making them. For today’s post I wanted to write about an important topic, sustainability at Christmas time. There are so many gifts that will be wrapped up by people this Christmas but how cool would it be if we each tried to incorporate some eco-friendly wrapping techniques to display underneath the Christmas tree? I really hope you enjoy these ideas and let me know if you are planning on doing a similar thing this year in the comments section at the bottom of this blog post.

Reusable Wrapping

I heard about this online shop called Wrag Wrap from a Niomi Smart YouTube video and I just had to order some items from it. I ordered 2 reversible wrapping papers, 2 reusable gift tag holders, and a few reusable wrapping bags. I was so impressed by the concept and the quality when it arrived. One of the gift tag holders was out of stock so they kindly sent me a different one for free, which can I say is amazing customer service. The wrapping paper has a string attached so it is easy to wrap your present without the use of non-recyclable sticky tape. I also love the fact that you can attach the cute gift tag holders, in which you can slip in your card name tag. The reusable gift bags secure with a pull string and can be used as actual shopping bags afterwards – genius!

Make Your Own Gift Tags

It’s become a tradition in my family to make gift tags out of last year’s Christmas cards and I really love it! It is so lovely to cut out different shapes and make each gift tag that little bit more unique. It is such a great way to recycle old Christmas cards.

Wrap Your Parcels With String

Use string to wrap your parcels. You can reuse it next year if the sizes work and it looks really pretty. Failing that, get hold of some biodegradable brown tape to secure any wrapping paper with.

Use Gift Bags

If something more delicate needs to be wrapped, why not use a gift bag that can be reused? I love using mini bags to store earrings in when I travel away from home so this might be a great idea for the recipient too.

Buy Recyclable Paper

I found some beautiful recyclable paper from Paperchase this year and cards to go with it. The paper is also made from recycled paper, so it is a definite hit! So much glittery and shiny paper gets thrown in the bin each year but there are some lovely more sustainable options out there.
