My Makeup Essentials

I often post on here which products I have used for a makeup look or which products I have been loving in a particular month. Yet, I never really talk about my makeup staples! By staples I mean products I really love and things that I would be sad to live without. I’ve hand-picked 5 items from my everyday makeup bag that I think you should investigate…

Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette | Urban Decay

I don’t own that many eyeshadow palettes but when I bought this one I really did my research to find one that covered all bases. Long lasting, colour payoff and beautiful shades. I really feel like the Urban Decay Palettes are one of the best on the market and I love the range of shimmers and mattes in this selection. Natural browns and taupes are my favourite eye shadow colours and this palette provides endless combinations of subtle to buildable makeup. There are also some more darker shades for a more elaborate smoky eye. Have you tried this palette? If so what are your favourite shades? My favourites ones are Chopper, Bootycall and Tease.

Eyeshadow Original Primer Potion | Urban Decay

Another cult Urban Decay product is their eyeshadow primer. I ALWAYS wear this under my eyeshadow as it helps to ensure my eyes look colourful even by the evening. The eye shadow just doesn’t budge and I can rest assure I don’t need to make that top up of shadow throughout the day. I also love the cute wand applicator. It’s so pretty! You also don’t need much so mine has lasted me months and I’m not even kidding!

Gimme Brow In Light | Benefit

I do love a little product on my brows as they are very light. However, the Gimme Brow is perfect as the tiny brush means that you can create a subtle look for that everyday makeup vibe and build it up if your brows need even more life. Sometimes I wear this alone on my brows. Sometimes I will fill in the sparser areas with a brow pencil and set them with this. It really depends on my mood. I also love the Urban Decay Brow Tamer but I think what really sets this above the rest is the fine applicator. You can create tiny strokes and hence get a much more natural look. The product also smells amazing!

Even Better Foundation In Alabaster | Clinique

Whilst there was a lot of hype over the new Beyond Perfecting Clinique foundation (which I love by the way for those airbrushed Instagram photos…), I still prefer my old favourite foundation. The Even Better Foundation is slightly lighter and isn’t quite as thick. The coverage is still high however and it creates a lovely dewy finish. I also love the fact that it has SPF 15 in it which is perfect for fighting the ageing process of sun rays on our precious skin. I just can’t rate this foundation more highly and I have not found one that I prefer yet.

Chubby Stick | Clinique

Clinique Chubby Sticks are so amazing. I’ve tried a few tinted lip balms but none have come close to these. I prefer ones that are not in a pot as they are so easy to apply (and you don’t have to wash your hands every time…). I love how moisturised my lips feel after applying these and the colour pigment gives my lips a little more life without having to wear a thick lipstick. These are perfect for everyday and working from home. Often in the summer months I don’t want a heavy lipstick on my face and am too lazy to apply one. I own a range of shades of chubby sticks but my favourite is Baby Tint.
