Blogmas Homemade Food Gifts

Homemade gifts can be the most fun to give and receive. I just love getting creative and gifting someone something unique and special – something that cannot be purchased in the shops. Food is of course a great thing to give over Christmas and I have two offerings that might take your fancy. Why not make some of these suggestions as last-minute additions to someone’s present list?

Deluxe Granola

Now, this is a recipe I make most weeks and so I have practised it down to a T. I have tried many granola variations but this is my all-time FAVOURITE and it is probably because it contains delicious cacao powder, honey and nuts. I thought this would be the perfect gift to put in a pretty jar with a tag and ribbon describing what was in it. I hope the person receiving it likes it! You can find the recipe for it here if you want to give it a go! I often change the honey for date syrup for an extra special taste sometimes too! Why not make someone some this Christmas?

Fruit and Nut Mix

Now this is not just any old fruit and nut mix. Firstly, you want to make some chocolate coated brazil nuts (see the recipe below) and then mix them with walnuts, cranberries, and almonds. You can put any combination of fruit and nuts you like in the jar. This is the perfect snack for someone and I love the delicious variety they will get. The jar (should) keep them going for a while too and so it is a good long-lasting present!

Recipe Chocolate Brazil Nuts

  • 120g brazil nuts
  • 60g milk chocolate
  • 60g dark chocolate

  • Melt both types of chocolate together in a microwavable glass bowl in the microwave. I do this by heating it on full power for 1 minute before stirring. Then, I heat it on 20-30 second blasts until almost fully melted. The final stir will melt the remainder chocolate and prevent it from burning. I find this much easier but you can also melt the chocolate in a heat proof bowl over simmering water.
  • Once melted, coat the brazil nuts in the chocolate by dipping them in the bowl.
  • Leave the coated nuts on a sheet of baking parchment to set.
  • Store in an airtight container until you are ready to make your fruit and nut mix.

Will you be making any homemade presents this Christmas?
