Blogmas Day 23… Trying Red Lipsticks

I have so many lipsticks that I don’t use as much as I would like to. So, this Christmas I decided to make myself wear 3 different red lipsticks I owned and give them a little test run against each other. I wanted to wear them three days in a row so that I could really get a sense of how they actually compared, and which one was the overall winner. I really hope you enjoy reading this blog post and I hope it gives you an insight into which reds are worth the purchase.

Day 1… Chanel Rouge Charnel Allure Velvet 56

I wore this to dinner with a red lip liner to prevent the lipstick running (note I wore the same lip liner with all 3 lipsticks, so it was a fair test). I was pretty impressed by this one as it lasted through the meal, although towards the end it was starting to come off. It faded nicely though. The formula is really creamy and so it felt nice on the lips. I also love the shade as it is quite a rich red. The actual lipstick holder is amazing as you click it, so the lipstick comes out. By far a luxurious lipstick and perfect for a gift.

Day 2… Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Colour Red Carpet 1

This lipstick is no longer available, but I actually think better lipsticks from Bobbi Brown have been released since. I find the shape of this one a bit hard to apply as it is not rounded and so I had to use a lip brush. However, once on this is a lovely lipstick. This lipstick does tend to fade faster than the others though and so I probably wouldn’t reach for this one as much.

Day 3… 3INA 403

Being the cheapest of the bunch this mighty lipstick is definitely not the loser of the bunch. Yes, the packaging isn’t as luxurious, but it is a lovely design nonetheless. This lipstick is vegan and cruelty free. It also does not contain parabens. The payoff was lovely, and it lasted pretty well. Definitely worth the purchase!
